MOKSHA at last..

Posted on June 17th, 2008 in Uncategorized) by cj | 3 Comments »

It passes through a beautiful lush green environment sidelined by big trees and cooled by its shadows. But its condition was very bad that anybody using it would never forget the bad experience. This was the curse on it. But like every other curse, this too was followed by ‘moksha’. And the bad experience is going to be a story of the past.

Its a road that I’m talking about. The Karyavattom- Thrippadapuram road. Despite the gutters and small width, it is a highly preffered road to Technopark for those coming from Sreekaryam side. The Public Works Dept. (PWD) gives ‘moksha’ to it. They have commenced the maintenance work of this road and is expected to get it completed in less than a weeks time. It is better to avoid commuting through this road till then.

Well, its a good move from the authorities’ side. It would have been a perfect one if they have given importance to the speed-cutters like bumps at the appropriate regions of this narrow road with a number of curves, thus making it ’safe and beautiful’ .

Thiruvananthapuram, May 28 Technopark headquartered IBS Group has signed a deal with Tokyo International Air Cargo Terminal Ltd (TIACT) for implementation of the Cargo Terminal Operations (CTO) module of iCargo, a new-generation cargo management system.
The IBS system will manage the new cargo terminal at Tokyo International Airport, also known as Haneda Airport that is ranked among the world’s busiest passenger airports.

The airport is currently undergoing a major expansion in terms of capacity and technology and is scheduled to be fully functional by October 2010.

V.K Mathews, chairman and CEO, IBS Group told reporters Wednesday that TIACT has opted for IBS’s solution to handle the entire cargo terminal operations, especially when the airport is launching a new cargo terminal.

“With Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) and All Nippon Airways (ANA), two of Japan’s leading carriers, having already placed their confidence in iCargo to manage their cargo business, this deal with TIACT highlights the growing acceptance of IBS’ new-generation cargo solutions in Japan,” said Mathews.

Built on the latest technology, IBS’ CTO system will provide Haneda with an integrated system that will optimize operations, enhance profitability and manage ground handling and warehousing of all cargo processed through the airport.

Terutake Kato, president and CEO TIACT Ltd, said they chose IBS due to their experience and know-how in the airline cargo industry.

“We foresee IBS’ system facilitating efficient processes and handling the complex nature of cargo terminal operations. The development of Haneda’s system will be a very big achievement for IBS. We look forward to developing this into a long-term engagement,” said Kato.

The IBS Group (IBS) is a leading global provider of new-generation IT solutions to the travel, transportation and logistics industry.

IBS has business operations in the United States, Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, supported through 15 global business centres.

If you donate money you give food, but if you donate blood you give life

Its the ‘World blood donors day’ on 14th June, and lets make our helpful mark to it.  As a part of this, a mega Blood Donation camp is organized in Park- center, Technopark on 13th June 2008 between 10.00 a.m. and 02.00 p.m. The theme for the world blood donors day, this year is “Giving Blood Regularly“. Its an effort by WHO(World health Organization) to commit donors to donate blood regularly and over long term, building a stable base of volumtary unpaid donors. Read on and get rid of your anxieties regarding blood donation.

  •  Sometimes blood can be utilized to replace lost blood from people in life or death situations.
  • Red cells are used during surgery or after an accident to replace the blood volume and maintain the oxygen flow in all the cells of the body.

CEOs Protest against the Golf Club Take Over

Posted on June 11th, 2008 in Uncategorized) by admin | 1 Comment »

Just as the Kerala High Court rapped the LDF government for its takeover of the heritage property Trivandrum Golf Club, it has found a fervent caddie in the association of IT honchos. The State Cabinet had decided to acquire the 100-year old club, located in 24 acres in prime property in the heart of Kerala capital since the club was reported to have ‘outstanding tax dues’.

The captains of IT firms in Technopark have clubbed in against the Trivandrum Golf Club takeover in unison, dubbing the move as “taken in haste”. While other State governments were trying to promote golf, the Kerala government was trying to end an existing golf course, they pointed out. There are 120-odd Companies working from Technopark, about 12 kms away from Trivandrum Golf Club.

According to G-TEC, the Group of Technopark Companies, the takeover of Trivandrum Golf Club may give “negative signal to the investor community.” Sunil Gupta, a spokesman of GTEC said, here in a release, that some IT firms which invested in Kerala in 1994 were promised a golf club within Technopark. With the current priority of more buildings, this promise was unlikely to materialise, Gupta argued.

The Kerala High Court, meanwhile, has asked the Kerala government to return the possession of Trivandrum Golf Club to club members on Tuesday. The State revenue officials had effected the acquistion on Monday.

The court has also asked State revenue secretary Nivedita Haran to appear before it next Monday to give explanation.

Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan has reacted that the State government would appeal against the verdict. Just hours before the court order, State law minister M Vijayakumar had defended the takeover, saying that the Kerala government intended to make golf facilites accessible to more people beyond the club’s 200-odd members.

The Tata Elxsi centre at the Technopark here has expanded its facility to meet the scale-up requirement of its clients.

R.Natarajan, general manager and head of the centre, told reporters here on Thursday that the facility which has 582 engineers, has been expanded to accommodate 1,500 engineers.

Two new development centres would be set up in Hyderabad and Coimbatore. The new development centres will assist customers on product design and development and also provide them with high quality solutions.

Mr.Natarajan who had been heading the centre here from its inception, said that after commencing operations with 30 engineers in 2001, it has transformed into a 600-strong team and was still counting.

The expansion of the centre has been planned in a phased manner and in the last phase it would have 2 lakh sq.ft. and employ 2,000 engineers. Recruitment of more engineers would become imperative soon.

Almost 70 per cent of the engineers working in the centre are Keralites.

The centre is focussing on automotive, multimedia and digital signal processing domains. Adaptive front lighting system (AFLS), airbags and various other components for vehicles are being developed for its international clients.

Although not in vogue in the country at present, these facilities would become part of the automotive industry within the next five years, he said.
